MARK STEPHENSON, PHA
Resume

My first show dog was a Samoyed, purchased in 1968. Although he never made his championship, he did put the show spirit in my blood. He was then followed by a pair of Irish Setters, English Springer Spaniels, Siberian Huskies, and finally into Dachshunds and German Wirehaired Pointers.

I have to date, as a breeder/exhibitor/handler, finished championship titles on over 400 dogs in the Breed ring, Obedience ring and in Field Trials. These titles included Mex/Can/1978 World Ch./Dual Am. Ch. I Spy Wiretap UDT PC VC-1 TT-1 (ret.). His son was also a Dual Ch. UDT. In 1980, I was lucky to be asked to guide Ch. Blairhaven Star Majesty to Best In Show at the Dachshund National Specialty. I later was given the dog and retired him at the age of 10 ½ yrs. after going back-to-back BISS at the Cascade DC Specialty and Portland DC Club. One of my most exciting wins was the honor to guide Ch. Pegden’s Cactus Jack to Best In Show at the 3rd Annual Purina Invitational in 1988.

Currently, as a member of the Professional Handlers' Association, I am showing many Dachshunds for clients as well as a few English Springer Spaniels, German Wirehair Pointers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and now even Bulldogs. In 2003, we showed the #1 miniature longhair Dachshund in the US, Ch Heathero Furby ML, and last year we piloted the #6 smooth hair Dachshund, Ch. Fairwinds Pretty Woman SS. This is the dog that we took to the Westminster KC in NYC and the Eukanuba Invitational in Tampa. Much of my success is attributed to knowledge of the animal, internal and external conditioning and of course training and a lot of love. I strive to use only the best food, vitamins and shampoos available today. When competing at the highest levels for our clients, you need every edge you can get to represent them on a National level.
